Caguana: Nuestro Patrimonio Taíno - Lusca Film Fest 2026

<div>"Caguana: Our Taíno Heritage explores the historical and cultural significance of the Indigenous ceremonial center of Caguana, located in Utuado, Puerto Rico, one of the most important archaeological sites in the Caribbean. The complex, composed of thirteen stone structures, was inhabited by Pre‑Taíno and Taíno cultures between 600 and 1500 A.D., and preserves petroglyphs depicting mythical figures and ancestral messages still under study.</div><div>Through interviews with specialists, archival footage, digital animations, and reenactments performed within the site itself, the documentary reveals the worldview, daily life, and enduring mysteries surrounding this sacred place. Caguana is compared with other contemporary pre‑Columbian sites, highlighting its unique character and its central importance within Caribbean archaeology. The film presents multiple theories—some complementary, others conflicting—that attempt to explain the enigmas the site continues to hold.</div><div>As an investigative contribution, this new version introduces for the first time the theory that Caguana may also have functioned as an astronomical observatory where the Taínos tracked the movement of the sun, moon, and constellations to organize their ceremonial life. Based on the documentary originally released in 2000, this updated edition features restored visuals, new information, and previously unpublished testimonies that underscore the importance of preserving and sharing this ancestral heritage.</div><div>"</div><div><br></div>PT1H33MNR2026-10-15
